The Idiot Years
Published in Audio Cassette by Books on Tape (January, 1993)
Author: Brad Alan Lewis
Average review score:

Betrayal, guilt, kharma, love, and hate - it's all here!
There is nothing like the tale of a man who bares his soul out of a desperate, pathetic need to lessen his guilt. Even though the "hero" is tragically flawed and yes, pathetic, the insights reaped from this story are incredibly enlightening. One gets the feeling we are reading nothing but the bare bones truth of someone's ghosts that have just come out of the closet - and how refreshing it is. Basic but ingenious writing a la Camus and Hemmingway. This is a flat out great book.

The most awesome book I've read in years; careful, X rated.
This book was really excellent; good story, amazing characters; I only wish it was longer. This lewis-guy, whoever the hell he is, can write amazingly well

The Inspirational Writings of C.S. Lewis: Surprised by Joy/Reflections on the Psalms/the Four Loves/the Business of Heaven
Published in Hardcover by Budget Book Service (September, 1994)
Author: C. S. Lewis
Average review score:

Omni-mind from four directions!/Buy Bulk!
Personally, I don't know how Inspirational Press stays in business! They have all of these high-quality books for bargain-barrel prices. And the printing aspects are high-quality-the bindingholds up to my vicious attacks with the pen and constant pondering and page-turning and re-page-turning!

This is a "four-fer," containing some of C. S. Lewis's best work.

"Surprised by Joy" is his spiritual autobiography and the basis for the film "Shadowlands." If you love Lewis or love biographies, get this and enjoy! It ranks with St. Paul, St. Augustine, and St. Martin Luther in power and depth of conversion.

"Reflections on the Psalms" is Lewis "comparing notes" on the psalms, student to another student. He is very perceptive and has a strong background in literary criticism, so his comments
are insightful.

"Four Loves" is an essay on the most favorite of all emotions. He compares the different types or dimensions to love that we do not normally considers. God is love, but what, pray tell, is love? Lewis discusses this question and comes up with answers.

"Business of Heaven" is a daily devotional a la Oswald Chambers, and includes special readings for special days and movable feats. IT works well for Protestants and Catholics. There is even a reading for Leap Day, avoiding a common mistake devotionals make.

If you have thought about getting one of these books, get this "four-fer" and save your mony by buying in bulk.

Loved it! Lewis stimulates the thinking process.
C.S. Lewis offers an inspirational and thought-provoking collection of works here. "Surprised by Joy" tells a powerful story of a man converted by God's marvelous power. Lewis explores the essence of salvation when he confesses that he came into the Kingdom of God fighting every inch of the way. He reveals that the natural man has no desire to be saved but that God's will ultimately wins out over our own.

"Reflection on the Psalms" is inspirational, devotional, and thought-provoking. It is a must read for every C.S. Lewis buff.

"The Four Loves" ought to be read by everyone, Christian or non-Christian. It explores Love in in its simplest forms with reverent intellectual integrity and in its highest forms with awe-inspiring depth. Any reader will go away from this one with a deeper understanding of this basic human need and God's powerful force of Love. If you read anything at all "The Four Loves" must be on the list.

"The Business of Heaven" is rich with Lewis' imagination, classic style, and terrific philosophical questioning. He takes us right into paradise!

A Compelling Spiritual Journey
A superbly-well written, compelling spiritual journey of the most talented, prominent individuals of our time. Through discussions of personal loss, creativity, and soul-searching, INSPIRED reaches deep within ourselves, offering the reader comfort, while inspiring spiritual renewal and awareness. INSPIRED is a creative, touching work!!!! BRAVO!!

This is a brilliantly written, and well-put together book
Where most books focus on the differences of people's faith, this superb book focuses on the similarities in a completely non-judgmental way. The stories and the writing impressed me deeply. After reading this book, I am buying copies to give to my friends and family members for holiday gifts. I was so moved and inspired that I want to share my experience of reading this book with others.

Intrigue at the Rafter B Ranch (Bly, Stephen A., Lewis & Clark Squad Adventure Series, Bk. 1.)
Published in Paperback by Crossway Books (June, 1997)
Author: Stephen A. Bly
Average review score:

Lots of fun!
Exciting basketball competition and mysteries to solve as the team discovers big time activities going on in their small town. Really looking forward to the other books in the series! Couldn't put this one down.

Excellent youth/children's book. Clean adventure.
Charming, modern-day adventure in the West. Just a lot of fun to read. Plus a great lesson on unselfishness for kids. I liked the whole series, and that is as an adult who is not into basketball. Now I am buying these books for nephews and nieces. Overall, Bly always tells a creative, different story with surprises and interesting characters; but always a positive tale so you feel good at the last page. I discovered his youth series is a delight when I couldn't find more of his adult books in our small library.

Introduction to Islamic Theology and Law
Published in Paperback by Princeton Univ Pr (01 April, 1981)
Authors: Ignaz Goldziher, Andras Hamori, and Bernard Lewis
Average review score:

classic work of scholarship
Even though his scholarship is over one hundred years old, Goldziher's scholarship still remains relevant and in use. A parallel could be drawn between the continued importance of Albert Schweitzer's work on NT studies and the continued legacy of Goldziher. This edition of the work is nicely translated and well edited and belongs in the library of anyone interested in Islamic Studies. Along with Muslim Studies, this work remains as an historical monument marking the beginning of modern historical skepticism and critical scholarship towards the Muslim jurisprudential literature.

A Classic in the field
Ignaz Goldziher is a pioneer Islamicists whose views have still not yet been outdated despite new discoveries. An essential read for those who want to have an outsider's opinion on the beliefs and jurisprudence of the religion of Islam.

Isabella Abnormella and the Very, Very Finicky Queen of Trouble

Authors: J. Patrick Lewis and Kyrsten Brooker

Just loved it!
This is just the cutest book that I've had to read to my daughter at least 3 times a day! We love the style of writing that's teamed with precious illustrations. I also like the extended use of vocabulary throughout the story. A favorite!

Fantastical fun
A tale told in clever rhyme that lots of fun (especially to read aloud.) But as much as I enjoyed the tale of an incredibly hard-to-please queen, it's the collage of ingenious illustrations that make me giggle. This is the kind of book you read to your kids, then pour over the illustrations after thay have gone to bed! A wonderful book....I can't wait for more.

It Wasn't Always Easy, But I Sure Had Fun
Published in Paperback by Ballantine Books (August, 1997)
Author: Lewis Grizzard
Average review score:

His fans had fun too...
I sure do miss Lewis Grizzard. The best Southern humorist of his generation, Grizzard never failed to make me laugh and often cry. I think that many people mistakenly pigeonhole his humor and writing style as "redneck" but Grizzard was no Jeff Foxworthy or Jerry Clower. He could make you laugh, make you mad and make you think with just one finely honed sentence. He was a master at his craft and this collection shows him at his best. Grizzard died a few years of heart failure and the world is a poorer place without him.

Shoots from the Heart
This book, makes you truely proud to be a southerner. And it makes you proud to be a man. Lewis says what's on his mind. You may not always agree. Some may find in funny, and some will find it obnoxious. I agreed with every one of his views and all I have to say is, that it's about time someone said some of this!!! A truley touching and humorous book.

Jesus, M.D.
Published in Hardcover by Zondervan (01 May, 2001)
Authors: David Stevens and Gregg Lewis
Average review score:

Wise and compelling
I began to read this book out of duty: I am a pastor and a massage therapist, I have an interest in the spirituality of healing, and I try to keep up with what's written on the subject. Much of it is dreadful. Twenty pages into this book, and I was hooked. It has wonderfully icky medical stories. It has spiritual insights (from a style of spirituality very different from my own). It has a flavor of humble honesty. It has very funny moments. I was surprised: I love it. I'm buying a stack for presents.

Great spin on the old story
I am a physician in training and purchased this book recently. It was exactly what I needed. With the long hours and constant stress that a resident physician is under, it was refreshing to see that The Great Physician also underwent that stress and knows what I am facing.

Dr. Stephens does an excellent job comparing Christ to the modern day physician. While, this book is written for mass appeal, it will be most relevant and understood by the medical community. Jesus, MD should be required reading for all Christian physicians.

Jewish Spirituality : Revitalizing Judaism for the Twenty-First Century
Published in Hardcover by Jason Aronson (July, 2000)
Author: Lewis D. Solomon
Average review score:

Jewish Spirituality
I'm not Jewish, but very interested in Judaism. I found this book to be very affirming, offers hope and generally presents a warm, nurturing and spiritual approach to Judaism. Absent is a negative, blaming or punitive perspective. I highly recommend it!

Cherish This Book!
This is a wonderful book that opens your heart and soul to the possibilities of a richer life as a Jew. What is useful in the 21st century, what is authentic Judaism, and how to deepen your relationship with the Eternal (no matter what comes). What is beautiful will not perish if we all hearken to the wisdom of this work.
